Create this mural in 5 simple steps

Follow the steps, take your time, and discover how much fun it is to create something unique yourself.

1: Decide on the composition

First, determine the desired size and position of the design on the wall. Then transfer the design to the wall using the grid technique or a projector.

Tip: Need help with the grid technique? Check out our instructions here. Download the line drawing of the design here.

2: Perfect curves and lines

To achieve a clean, crisp finish when painting, use the tape technique. Use straight tape for the lines and curved tape for the curves.

Learn step by step how to apply this tape technique.

3: From light to dark

Mask off and paint each area separately. Start with the lightest colors. In this case, that’s white. When painting adjacent areas, paint slightly over the lines to ensure the smoothest transition. Once the painted area is dry, move on to the next color. Our recommendation: start with 105, then 289, 505, 274, 299, 227, 693, 594, and 344. The darker colors often require a second coat.

4: Finish the elephant

Give your elephant some character by adding the eye. First, paint the entire shape white with 105, and once that’s dry, apply 594 in the center. Step back frequently to check whether your design is turning out the way you want.

5: Evaluate the final result

Make any necessary adjustments and enjoy your Playful Elephant on the wall.
