Everything you need for this design

You’ll need these materials:

  • Amsterdam Creative Wall Paint
  • Flat brush
  • Paint roller
  • String
  • Nail
  • Tape Measure
  • Spirit level
  • Pastel chalk, light gray

Prepare your wall

  • Surface: Make sure the wall is clean, dry, and smooth.
  • Planning: Measure the available space and determine the position of the various geometric shapes.
  • Color selection: In this design, colors are blended together. Use the example as a guide and feel free to experiment with small amounts of paint to achieve the right proportions. Make color swatches (e.g., on A4 paper) and tape them to the wall to see how light and space affect the colors. Adjust the colors as needed to suit your taste.

Create this wall design in 7 simple steps

1: The color scheme

Would you like to use the same colors as in this design? If so, mix and use the colors as follows: large area 299 + 105, small circle at the top 274 (+ 105 and 299 if desired), small circle at the bottom 299, large circle on the left 318, large circle on the right 299 + 318, and background 594 + 274 (+ 105 if desired).

2: Determine the composition

Decide where the design will go on the wall and mark the center of the large circle. Keep in mind that the circle won’t be fully visible and the nail will be close to the baseboard. Place a thin nail at this point; it will serve as the pivot point for drawing the large circle that forms the basis of the design.

3: Drawing a perfect circle

Attach a piece of string to the nail, measure the radius, and tie a piece of pastel chalk to the end. Keep the string taut at all times for the best result and draw a semicircle.

4: Drawing guide lines

Now that the basic shape is in place, you can further divide the composition. Draw a vertical line through the circle and add additional guide lines to position the different color areas and shapes.

Practical tip: Use a long level, a laser, or a string with a weight attached to ensure straight, even lines.

5: Painting the outlines

First, paint all the outlines and edges of the shapes. Use a paintbrush for this. This will give you a clear foundation for filling in the colored areas.

Practical tip: Instead of a pastel stick, tie a paintbrush to your string. This way, you can paint neat circles and apply color at the same time.

6: Filling in the shaded areas

Fill in all the shapes with paint. Use a brush for smaller areas and a roller for larger surfaces. Work from light to dark colors to make corrections easier.

7: Evaluating the final result

Check the mural from a distance and from different angles. Make any final corrections before cleaning up.
