Surface: make sure the wall is clean, dry, and even.
Planning: measure the available space and determine the position of the Striped Lines.

Follow the steps, take your time, and discover how much fun it is to create something unique yourself.

1: Design the composition on your wall

Use the design as a guide and, if necessary, sketch it on paper to scale for your wall. Then transfer it to the wall using pastel chalk. You can do this freehand, with the help of a projector, or using the grid technique.

The space between the “lines” is approximately 2.5 “lines.”

2: Tape the outer lines

Tape the outer lines of the vertical stripes. Make sure the corners are taped tightly. Next, tape off the lightest color area (in this design, that’s Titanium Buff Light). For extra-clean lines, we recommend using Amsterdam Acrylic Medium Matt. Paint over the tape lines to prevent the paint from bleeding underneath.

3: Start painting

Pour the paint into a paint tray. Now use a small paint roller to apply Titanium Buff Light. Remove the horizontally applied tape while the paint is still wet to create a sharp edge.

Tip: Do you prefer working with a brush? You can also paint directly from the can, but always make sure to use a clean brush.

4: Paint “stripe” by “stripe”

Repeat this step for each “stripe” and color. It’s best to work from light to dark (see the color order under the heading: See which colors were used) and work carefully. Take your time masking; clean tape lines are essential for this design. Then let the paint dry thoroughly before painting an adjacent shape. Have you painted all the “stripes” within the “lines”? Remove the last bits of tape.

Tip: Is the area not fully covered in one go? No problem. Let the first coat dry thoroughly and then apply a second coat over it.

5: Evaluate the Final Result

Step back and take a critical look at your mural one last time. Touch up where necessary. Then place your furniture in the desired spots and enjoy the wow factor.
