Create this mural in 6 easy steps

Follow the steps, take your time, and discover how much fun it is to create something unique yourself.

1: Determine the composition

Determine the height and contact points of the mountain peaks and mark them with pastel chalk. Start with the largest central mountain and work out the smaller shapes around it.

Step back every now and then to check if the composition is balanced.

2: Sketch the mountain shapes

Lightly sketch the triangular mountain shapes on the wall. Use a measuring tape and a level to ensure straight, symmetrical lines, and work from largest to smallest.

Practical tip: Use a long, straight board or a level for extra-straight lines.

3: Masking and painting the mountain shapes

Carefully apply tape along the lines to create clean color blocks, and press firmly to prevent the tape from lifting.

  • Mask off the first (rear) mountain and paint it.
  • Dry? Mask off the two mountains to the left and right of the large one and paint them.
  • Dry? Mask off the last mountain on the right and paint it.

This technique is explained in detail here.

4: Determine the Position of the Circles

Determine the position of the circles next to the mountains and lightly mark them with pastel chalk. Vary the size for a playful effect.

Practical tip: Use round objects, such as a plate, to draw neat circles.

5: Painting round shapes

Paint the round shapes freely by hand. Start along the edges and work inward.

6: Evaluate the final result

Step back and take another critical look at your mural. Touch up where necessary. Then arrange your furniture in the desired spots and enjoy your creation.
