Interior Stylist & Photographer

Marieke Sanchez

Creativity has been part of me for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been drawn to interior styling and photography, and working at Royal Talens has only fueled that even more. From DIY projects with pen and paper to painting directly onto a wall with a brush. I love combining different materials and techniques.

The colors that instantly clicked

What immediately drew me to Amsterdam Creative Wall Paint were the colors. They match perfectly with Amsterdam All Acrylics and the acrylic markers, which makes mixing and combining products feel completely natural. You can really create one consistent creative flow, from paper all the way to the wall. I also love the smaller packaging sizes, especially for small projects or accent work.

From inspiration to first sketch

For my mural, I started by gathering inspiration from different channels and from my own photos. Then I created stencils and sketched the shapes onto the wall with a pencil. That step makes a huge difference, it helps you keep the overview, especially on a large white surface. Once the foundation is there, you can start painting with ease.

Painting with ease

The paint is incredibly pleasant to work with. It spreads smoothly and is easy to remove from tools and hands. Like with any paint brand, some colors cover slightly better than others, but with a second layer you get a beautiful, even result. I used Amsterdam brushes, and they were perfect for this project: crisp lines and even paint distribution.

Mixing colors without the hassle

Mixing colors was effortless as well. The paint responds beautifully, and I didn’t run into a single issue.

The biggest surprise during the process

What surprised me most was how easy it actually was to just start. A large white surface can feel intimidating, but once you sketch your shapes, you quickly get used to the space. After that, you mainly look forward to adding color.

What color can do to a space

Once the mural was finished, the room instantly changed. All the walls in our garden are white, and under the bright Spanish sun that can feel a bit harsh. The color brings atmosphere and warmth right away. It instantly makes the space feel more personal.

Why Creative Wall Paint feels different

What makes Creative Wall Paint feel different to me compared to regular wall paint is the combination of smaller quantities and the fact that the colors match the acrylic paints and markers. It’s great to be able to use all those products together. It truly feels like an expansion of your creative toolkit.

A tip for beginners

My tip for anyone painting a mural for the first time: don’t make it too complicated. Start with simple shapes and don’t go too big right away. First get a feel for the paint, your tools, and the surface. From there, everything will naturally grow.
