When I work with color and composition, I usually start with one color. From that, I extract different tones, from light to dark. Once that foundation is in place, I add other colors. I prefer working with colors that have lower saturation, and then choose one tone that’s slightly more vibrant to add a sense of tension.
Balancing Form and Empty Space
In my compositions, I always look for balance between the subject and the empty background. That calm and spaciousness are just as important to me as the image itself.
A Wall Is Fixed
A wall is truly something different from a canvas or a sheet of paper. A standalone artwork can be hung anywhere; a wall is fixed. That means you need to think carefully about which image fits the space the wall is part of. For me, a mural should contribute to an interior. It can have presence, but it shouldn’t scream for attention. It should work together with the space.
